Carson Elementary Report Card Procedures—Fall ‘10
Reminders
* no use of the plus first trimester…just the numeric score. (yes, the online report card sample does have a +, but it’s not a good example).
* If a category is not scored this trimester then leave blank
* Student work percentages do not directly translate to scores; i.e. 95% does not equate to a 4. A student doing strong work at grade level is a 3. 4's are for the exceptional in their performance and in the work that they produce (which exceeds grade level).
* Scores are based on actual performance on assessments; this means that scores should not be impacted by homework, behavior, attendance, etc
* Homework, behaviors, and attendance concerns are reported on the section "Behaviors that Promote Learning" and followed up on the comments section.
The comments section should be a healthy combination of data and comments regarding how the student is performing academically and socially.
When done with report cards let Karen know and she will format them into a pdf file.
Karen will place them into a shared folder in the GROUPS/Teachers folder for your review. If you need to make any changes, you will have to go back into eSchoolPLUS. The pdf is a read only file.
Once satisfied with your edits and changes, let Karen know and she will update the pdf for review by either Andrea or Arturo (same person who is your evaluator this year).
Due to the fact that A.R. will now only be identified in the comment section it was agreed that coming up with a common phrase for the report card would be beneficial. This is an optional comment, you are more than welcome to come up with your own. Happy report carding...
The Accelerated Reader program is used to set reading goals and help evaluate progress to improve reading comprehension. The trimester goal is ___ points with at least 80% accuracy. ___ earned ___ pts with ___ accuracy. (Add a sentence to elaborate as appropriate.)
Way to go, keep up the good work!
I know that ____ can do better than this if he/she….
I would encourage ___ to focus on accuracy this next trimester rather than points.
I would encourage ___ to chose a “good fit book” within his/her reading level.
If ___ started reading earlier in the trimester to accomplish his/her reading goal, I know he/she could attain his/her goal.
